Two-time GRAMMY® Award and Four time ARIA Award-winning critically acclaimed New Zealand songstress Kimbra releases her brand new single Everybody Knows. The song heralds the arrival of her anxiously awaited third full-length album, Primal Heart, produced by John Congleton and arriving early 2018.
Everybody Knows reflects Kimbra’s penchant for constant evolution. Musically, it shifts from a hum of ethereal production into xylophone percussion and a whirlwind of electronic melodies as her voice transfixes at every turn, building from breathy to bombastic. The eighties-style beat leads into an unforgettable chant, “Now the whole world’s watching you.”
The whole world will certainly be watching her on Primal Heart. She has quietly spent the past two years assembling the 11 tracks on this body of work with hit-machine Skrillex (Top of the World), among other producers in Los Angeles and New Zealand. Stripping down Kimbra’s music to bare emotion and heart, the album invites listeners to experience the inherent vulnerability in her voice, conveying raw feeling throughout each song.
Kimbra’s voice seeped into the hearts and minds of listeners around the globe in 2012. Kimbra’s duet with Gotye, the inescapable 11 x ARIA platinum smash Somebody That I Used to Know, garnered Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2013 GRAMMY® Awards. Moreover, she made history by becoming “the third New Zealand singer to win a GRAMMY®.” She confidently stepped into the spotlight on her second full-length, The Golden Echo, earning acclaim from Paste, Los Angeles Times, Spin, Consequence of Sound and more, in addition to yielding the hits 90s Music, As You Are, and Goldmine. In 2011 Kimbra released her first record, the ARIA platinum Vows, featuring the tracks Settle Down, Cameo Lover and Good Intent.
