Clarity Records are a mighty fine record store stocking an extensive range of new and second hand vinyl records. With Record Store Day just around the corner Clarity Records maintains its tradition of opening for twenty four hours as well as a few surprises for vinyl enthusiasts turning up on the night. Local legend Matthew “Footy” Horvath shares a few words about Record Store Day at Clarity Records.
How are excited are Clarity Records about RSD 2017?
I am really looking forward to RSD this year. It is always a full on, but fun day. It’s great seeing so many faces come through the store and celebrate independent music.
What do you think this year’s top picks are?
This year there’s going to be some popular titles amongst the customers. David Bowie has a couple of releases, Bruce Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac and more! I can’t remember if there is anything specific that I will be picking up for myself, but I’ll see when I start opening up the boxes when they arrive.
Is frustrating about those touts who exploit RSD by selling exclusives on eBay?
Very frustrating. But so hard to stop. We try and stop people from buying multiple copies of a single release so there is more to go around.
What is the best buy you have ever picked up from RSD?
I really enjoyed the TAANG! Records singles box set they released a couple years ago. That is probably my favourite RSD in my collection.
Does it amaze you at the sorts of records people buy and how much they get in to RSD?
Yes definitely. We sell all sorts of records on the day, even records I think that I am going to be stuck with for years to come. But also on the other hand I have been caught out where I have ordered up on certain titles because I think we will sell a lot of them, but it isn’t the case.
How do music lovers find out more about what they can buy from Clarity for RSD? Any other specials in store?
If they follow us on social media’s we will keep customers updated with the happenings for Record Store Day. At the moment our plan is to continue our 24 hour trade for that date. Still working on potential other specials for the day.
